About the Artist

Maya Haims is a Florida born photographer, digital artist, and filmmaker. Maya discovered her interest in all things creative at an early age. For as long as she can remember, she has been pulled in by the art of photography, receiving her first DSLR at the age of 12. Maya describes feeling a sense of calmness when she has her camera in hand, clearing her mind as she looks through the viewfinder, experiencing photography as a form of meditation. To Maya, there is no rush quite like capturing the perfect moment on camera. Maya leaned into this passion, becoming the lead photographer of her K-12 school, and later continuing her education studying art at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

As Maya has grown older and her artistic interests began expanding, she started to dip her toes into the vibrant and boundless worlds of digital art and filmmaking. Encapsulated by the escapism from reality, merged with incredibly creative techniques used to create films and artworks, Maya’s imagination started to run wild. Maya’s first opportunity to truly explore her interests in the film world came when she spent two summers studying in Los Angeles at the New York Film Academy.

Maya’s goal with her art is to not only maintain, but to revive the parts of life that have gotten duller as we get older. When we are children, the world feels bright, colorful, and limitless. As our priorities and responsibilities shift with each year, most people lose touch with the simple joys of life. Maya aims to use her art as a reminder that the world is still exciting and beautiful, and the magic doesn’t need to fade. For Maya, the brighter the colors, the bigger her smile. Being enchanted by the visual art of storytelling and departure from the real world that art forms of all kind offer, Maya hopes to only get to continue creating, and to bring more focus to the beautiful things in life on a larger, more impactful scale.
